* A USA Today story profiles Alsu Thandu who is one of about 200 field technicians who have been secretly testing the iPhone and looking for technical glitches for more than 10 weeks. To test iPhone's durability, Thandu says, they doused it with water, dropped it on concrete, bounced it off sidewalks., and took it on on long runs, sweating all over it to test the limits.
Though "iTesting" will continue on an ongoing basis, Thandu says he is comfortable that the device is good to go. "For the launch, I think we are there."

V Listener Feedback
A
* Dave- Audio Comment- Safari for windows was all about iPhone- iphone tied into Safari
V David-
* There are a few reasons why Apple wants Safari on Windows. The easy
one is that it'll build market share, but that's a minor reason.
There is also the fact that Google pays for search click through from
browsers. I've read some analysts predict as much as $10 million in
revenue per quarter for Apple from this.

The main reason, I think, is that Safari will be the browser on the
iPhone. It will be the browser all those Windows-using iPhone owners
will use and as they become more accustomed to it, they'll stop using
IE on their desk/lap tops and maybe even switch to a Mac for their
next computer purchase. When it comes to switchers, Safari on the
iPhone is similar to iTunes on the iPod: it attracts more Mac users.
Don't forget that Macs are still the profit driver for Apple.
V Paul- See the comments to our last show for his whole post
* First and foremost, the iPhone uses Safari, and the only way for
third party developers to develop for the iPhone is through web apps.
Having Safari on Windows helps more people develop for the iPhone,
which makes for happier iPhone users and perhaps more iPhone sales.
* Bookmark syncing between Safari on OS X and Safari on Windows
(Bootcamp, work computer, multiple computers, etc.) is another
incentive for people to pay $100 a year for .Mac.
* More web site compatibility with Safari.
V Jay- Restoring Tabs in Safari
* On show #39 you mentioned wanting a session restore in Safari that is
similar to Fire Fox. I stumbled across this plugin and though it
might fit the bill.
