* The Company posted revenue of $5.41 billion and net quarterly profit of $818 million, or $.92 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $4.37 billion and net quarterly profit of $472 million, or $.54 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter
* Apple shipped 1,764,000 Macintosh® computers, representing 33 percent growth over the year-ago quarter and exceeding the previous company record for quarterly Mac® shipments by over 150,000. The Company also sold 9,815,000 iPods during the quarter, representing 21 percent growth over the year-ago quarter. V IPhone Billing Woes
* The Unofficial Apple Weblog reports of one user who received a $3000 bill when he roamed with his iPhone overseas. Apparently according to the iPhone plan fine print, international roaming costs $0.005 per kilobyte. According to the user, when using the iPhone in Europe over a 2 week period his bill amounted to $3000. According to the article, AT&T waived the charges, but apparently they do not offer an international roaming data plan for iPhone users as they do for some other devices.

* The New York Time's David Pogue blogged about his first AT&T bill stating that he was charged a total of $150 on his first bill for his $60 a month iPhone plan and the bill amounted to over 9 pages with several pages detailing out kilobyte by kilobyte his data usage. As for the $150 charge, it amounted to one full month, one partial month, the activation fee and taxes.

* AppleInsider claims that iPhone inventories should start cropping up at other high-profile retailers and prime AT&T wireless partners. AppleInsider goes on to say that All Best Buy stores are expected to carry the iPhone later this fall as Apple strengthens their relationship with BestBuy.

* Apple announced on July 31st that more than three billion songs have been purchased and downloaded from the iTunes store. iTunes now features a catalog of over five million songs, 550 television shows and 500 movies and recently surpassed Amazon and Target to become the third largest music retailer in the US.
V Microsoft Delays Office 2008 for Mac till 2008
* Microsoft will delay the release of Office 2008 for Mac until mid-January 2008 and the company is pushing for a MacWorld launch. Microsoft faced big changes with the long anticipated Office 2008, not only did they change file formats and convert the program to a universal binary, they also switched development platforms from CodeWarrior to X11, all of which seemed to make the taks a bigger undertaking than expected.

V Intel to Invest Over $200 million in VMware

* Intel and VMware announced Monday that intel is investing $218.5 million in VMware.VMware develops virtualization software that lets Intel-based computers run applications written for operating systems other than the one the computer is currently using. The company's VMware Fusion application -- in beta testing phase now -- allows Mac OS X users to run Windows-based programs along side Mac programs. The two companies have also entered into a partnering agreement to collaborate on virtualization technology development

* The New York TImes has unmasked the blogger famously known as Fake Steve Jobs. Fake Steve is Daniel Lyons, a senior editor at Forbes who writes and edits technology articles and is the author of the upcoming satirical novel written in the voice of the Fake Steve character, “Options: The Secret Life of Steve Jobs, a Parody.”Lyons says that he was shocked that it took so long for him to be unmasked.
