V Vodaphone, another European wireless provider, is said to have obtained a court order that requires T-Mobile in germany to sell the iPhone without a service plan. Apparently a temporary injunction was given and the court has requested a response from T-mobile's parent company Deutsche Telekom within two weeks. T-Mobile in the mean time can continue to sell the iPhone.

* Vodaphone is said to have released a statement that it's goal is not to prevent sales of the devices but to allow consumers to be able to purchase the iPhone without bind themselves to a long-term contract with any one carrier.
* Will the iPhone be received as well in Europe as in the US where they are not accustomed to expensive phones AND lengthy contracts?

V Our Geek Gift Ideas (Round 1)
* Disclaimer- We were not paid to recommend these products, we would tell you if we were.
V Katie- External Hard Drive- Prices Vary
V If you don't have one yet, you have no excuse. And if you already have one, there's always a need for more storage space or more backup space. Especially since the release of Mac OS 10.5 Leopard there's no excuse not to have an external hard drive. The more space, the merrier. ANd today you can get a good 500GB drive for $150 or less.
* USB 2.0 vs. FireWire - Consider a dual interface
* Victor- talk about drobo
V Victor- Shure Music Phone Adapter - $39.99
www.shure.com—us_pa_MPA_phone_adapter
* Lets you take any existing headphones and plug them into to this device. It then adds a microphone and controls that allow you to both make and receive phone calls with your iPhone.
V Katie-Apple TV - $299 = 40GB, $399- 160GB
www.apple.com—appletv
* I probably wouldn't have gone out and buy one (I won won as a doorprize at a MUG meeting) but now that I have it, I can't live without it. Great for streaming audio and video into your living room. I'm watching more video podcasts and catching up on past seasons of TV shows all from the comfort of my couch. I think this year will also bring more video options from iTunes.
V Victor-Rode VideMic- $149
www.rodemic.com
* How do you turn that terrible sound on home movies into something decent? The Rode video mic is a lightweight unit powered by a 9Volt battery. This shotgun mike an slike onto any camcorder that has a standard camera show fitting. It then plugs into the mini-jack and gives your video sound a near professional quality. You'll probably see me with one of these at MacWorld. For the price you can't beat it. Normally these shotgun mics go for $350
V Katie-Airport Express - $99.00
www.apple.com—airportexpress
* Again this was something that took me a while to buy because I didn't see the need, but now that I have one I love it. I use this to stream my music throughout my house. I have one in my living room and am getting ready to put another in my bedroom. I love being able to listen to podcasts and music while cooking dinner, cleaning, or doing other things around the house. Would go great with Victor's next suggestion...
V Victor- Audio Engine USA A2 -$199
www.audioengineusa.com
* Incredible little speakers that put 99% of Computer Speakers and iPod Docks to shame. Mary and I use these for our bedroom with out Apple TV and Flat screen and love them. The are on 4" x 5.5" but they pack a punch without obnoxious bass. The A2s produce a full sound, complete with good bass, and get loud enough to for an office or to fill a small/medium room.
V Katie- Jawbone Bluetooth Headset -$100
www.jawbone.com
* I hate my current bluetooth headset but the reality is I can't live without it. I've tried a number of bluetooth headsets and have yet to find one that really works. the Jawbone is one that consistently gets high marks and is known for it's call quality and noise cancellation abilities. It's also not too bad looking...
V Victor- Samsun NV11 -$350.00
www.samsung.com
* Boy do I need a point and shoot camera. Yes I have a nice Nikon D70 SLR but sometimes I want something small but still providing high quality. The Samsung NV11 offers easy to use touch sensitive control for us who own iPhones and have gotten to love "touch sensitive" things. It also offers good resolution at 10.1 megapixels, a sturdy looking exterior, and some exposure controls for those of us who just need to be in control sometimes. I'd call this a point and shoot price.
V Katie- Netflix Subscription- Price Varies Based on Plan
www.netflix.com
* This is the thing you get the geek who has everything. I subscribed to netflix this year and am really enjoying catching up on movies and not having to run to the video store. They also have online viewing options, but as of now they aren't Mac compatible. Hopefully this is something that will get better in the future.
V Victor- "Something Yummy"
www.gayot.com—main.html
* My last pick is about giving yourself something yummy. There is nothing in this world, like finding an incredible restaurant and having a fine meal with someone you love or even care about. For this holiday season, find that significant other, Best Friend Forever, or even family member and treat them to a fine dining experience you will both remember. Mary and I love the Vivace, overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the Four Seasons Aviara Hotel in Carlsbad Calfornia.
V Listener Feedback:
* Play Michael's Voicemail re: APE - He had trouble because of a logitech mouse driver
V Ghali- Creating Custom Icons
* hi katie and corey, i have downloaded icons from apple.com and i do not know how to apply them.Could you help me on applying the icons to replace other icons
V Joseph on Updated MacBooks
* Hello there, just listened to your podcast, and I'm with you when it comes to waiting for new MacBooks and MacBook Pros. I have a 17" PowerBook showing its age and I simply feel in my bones a completely new model coming very soon, the question is how soon?
V Bruce on Creating Multiple iCal ToDos
* Here is my workaround for iCal's lack of recurring To Dos, something which has greatly frustrated me as well as you, Dave Hamilton, and countless others. I created a calendar with the name To Dos and selected the color black for it which keeps it from standing out as much. When I just want to view my scheduled Events, Appointments, or whatever you call them I simply deselect the To Dos calendar which removes the clutter of those recurring things in our life that I wish were better addressed by Apple and David Allen's GTD. Not the best solution, but one that will work with your current equipment, and your iPhone.
I enjoy the Mac Core and will be glad when Corey return
