V Introduction
V All About the iPhone 3G
V Katie's Experience Buying the 3G iPhone on Day 1
My First Day With The 3G iPhone
* Hundreds of people in line
* Activation Woes right off the bat - line moved very slowly
* Apple employees were wonderful
* Took about 15 minutes to sign up for the AT&T plan, the iTunes activation took about 30 seconds.
* Blame Game - Whose fault is it

V First Thoughts
* 3G is much faster than Edge
* Issue with signal quality when on 3G network in my condo - 3G coverage not as good as we first thought?
* Issues with third party adapters including car systems and chargers
* New tapered edge makes the iPhone feel really good in the hand
* Ringer silence switch very easy to accidently hit
* Black faceplate is prone to lots of fingerprints. Apple is prone to scratches. Wondering if I should have gotten the white.
* Speakers are much improved
* GPS is nice, but probably not accurate enough for turn-by-turn directions
* Will Corey be upgrading?
* Apple Claims to have sold 1 million 3G iphones in the first weekend.

V Katie's Recommendations
* No regrets, but this wasn't a "practical" decision
* Check your 3G coverage, if you don't have coverage where you make most of your phone calls, it's likely not a worthwhile upgrade
* Recommend you use the 2.0 Firmware on your current iPhone first, it will be just like getting a new phone.
V 2.0 Firmware
V Katie and Corey got their Firmware a Day Early
* Some people reported issues, and there is a more recent version so if you did this, you probably want to do a restore to get the "official" upgrade.
* FIrst Impressions?
* Any problems with new firmware? Some reported, Apple apparently preparing an update.

V App Store

V Exchange email does work without a corporate account
* Note that if you sync Exchange Contacts and Calendars it will overwrite your other calendars
V MobileMe
* Bad Launch - Was supposed to be transitioned in a few hours took a few days
* Apple began sending out an email today apologizing for the problems and offering all MobileMe subscribers a free 30 day extension to their service.
www.macworld.com—mobileme.html
V Some services still not online.
* iDisk file sharing over email is not working and will be "coming soon"
* Groups is still not available
* Some users still reporting problems logging in.
V Push sync only works from Mobile Me to the iPhone. If your computer is set to automatically sync, it does so on a 15 minute delay which can create problems
* MacOSXHints.com has a possible fix
www.macosxhints.com—article.php
* Apple acknowledges this and says they will stop using the term "push"
* Questions of whether MobileMe will work as promised when .Mac always seemed to have issues
V Our experiences using mobile me
* Corey
V Katie
* Problems with general slowness
* Really needs server side rules
* Problems syncing Subscribed Calendars - workaround using BusySync
TMUP - MobileMe Calendar Syncing Issue
V AppleTV 2.1 Software

* TIme Capsule vs. Firewire drive for backing up.
V Colin's iPod Touch Questions
V I need your help. I have recently decided that I would like to buy an ipod touch. However, I still have a few questions about the best way to go about it. First of all, I want to sell my old ipod video 5.5g, with all of the extra cases that I have accumulated (including an underwater case) for around $150. I had planned on ebaying it, but if you have any better ideas, I would love to hear them. Also, macrumors suggests that I wait to buy one. I don't want to get burned, but most other websights say that they only guess a memory update is in the works. My question is simply, should I wait. I plan to buy a 16gig - mostly because of the price. I was considering buying it refurb, and had heard good things about the refurb store. However, generally you can get some money back if apple does a bump within 30 days of your purchase. However, I dont think this applies to the retail store. I had also considered my neighborhood best buy - because I dont have an apple store in town. Are all of these OK options?
* Apple typically updates their iPod line at an event in Septemeber. There will likely be some changes to the iPod touch - but the question remains how significant. Keep in mind that most software changes are available as a software update, although for a price.
* Take a look at the Apple Refurb Store. THey just lowered their prices on iPod Touch.
V Tyler's Outlook Sync Question
* My dad has outlook (yuck) and my mom and I use iCal and we have a single calendar for things like doctors appointments that we sync with eachother but we were wondering how we could do it with outlook. This way there would be the same info in outlook and iCal
