V Listener Feedback
V Tyler: Looking for Help with Insurance Industry Specific Program Call to MacCore listeners for help
* Hey guys i'm writing you because i need some help for my dad. He's and insurance broker and owns his own business. He uses a program called GBS to track commissions and stuff. His assistant's PC just died and i'm trying to switch him over to a mac, all the new computers have Vista and since he can't find the serial number for the GBS software anyways he has to change everything so he is considering a mac. But he needs to know if there is some sort of software like GBS out there for the mac, at first i thought he could just use parallels or fusion but since he can't find the serial number he can't even install it. So i'm asking you guys and your audience for help to try and make my dad a mac user once and for all!

Here is the website about the program to give you some useful info.

V Judy: Wants to keep Entourage in Sync with her Comcast Webmail Address Book
* My first suggestion would be that you ditch Comcast and go with a non-ISP based email provider such as Google. There are MANY reasons to go with Google over Comcast, but that's a story for another day. You can also setup Google to check your Comcast email or forward your Comcast Email to google to help you through the transition. If you were to use a Google Email Solution, you can automatically keep your address book in Sync using the "Synchronize with Google" option in address Book
* If you insist on using Comcast webmail, I don't know how to keep your address book in Sync, but I can think of a way to get your information up to the Comcast Address book. You'll need to first export your Address Book information in Entourage. File > Export > Export Contacts. Unfortunately, this exports them to a Tab Delimitated file and the Comcast address book wants a CSV File. You'll have to take the Tab Delimitated File and convert it to a CSV file. You can do this fairly easily by importing the information into Excel as a Tab Delimitated File, making any edits or changes, and then Exporting it as a CSV. Then upload the CSV to Comcast.
V How Do I Make my iCal Subscribed Calendars Sync with Mobile Me and my iPhone?
* Apple Acknowledges the Issue, but doesn't have a solution
* For my workaround, Instead of subscribing to calendars in iCal, I took those feeds and instead subscribed to the calendars using Google Calendar. Google Calendar can subscribe to a calendar just like iCal Can. Then, using BusySync or another Google Sync Program, you can keep your iCal Calendar in Sync with your Google Calendar. The beauty of this is that subscribed calendars then show up in iCal just as normal calendars and will sync with MobileMe and an iPhone.
* You can also Export all the Events from a Subscribed Calendar and Re-import them into a non-subscribed calendar in iCal. THe problem is this negates the benefit of having a subscribed calendar.
* MacOSXhHints.com also has an article that talks about using an Automator Action or a AppleScript that automates the manual process and can regularly be run to keep calendars up to date.
V Follow-up: Keeping Outlook, iCal and MobileMe in Sync
V Last show we had a listener question about how their family could keep in sync when some of the family used Macs with iCal while others used PCs with Outlook. We gave some advice such as using Google Calendar as an intermediary. Here's a specific way to set it up.
* You can keep your Macs calendar in sync with your iPhone and other devices using MObile Me.
* Using a third party utility such as Spanning Sync or BusySync you can keep your iCal on your Mac in Sync with a Google Calendar.
* Google has released a program called Google Calendar Sync that will keep the Google Calendar in sync with Outlook.
